Nick Phillips Joins BAM to Lead Project Finance Underwriting
NEW YORK – BAM Mutual, the U.S. municipal bond insurer, announced that Nick Phillips has joined the firm as Head of Project Finance to support continued growth in BAM’s portfolio of transactions that deliver essential public infrastructure using non-traditional financing structures.
Mr. Phillips was most recently Senior Investment Director for Meridiam, a leading global investor and developer of private infrastructure. He has extensive experience analyzing, structuring, and executing financings for toll roads, airport facilities, and other public-private partnerships.
“Project finance structures have matured and are now being utilized by a wide range of issuers to help manage construction, operating, and financial risks in their capital plans,” said BAM Chief Executive Officer Seán W. McCarthy. “Adding Nick reinforces our commitment to serve our issuer and investor stakeholders by providing efficient, low-cost access to the capital markets and high-quality, durable investments.”
BAM’s project finance activity spans multiple sectors, including transportation, higher education, water and power utilities, and public buildings.
“Pairing BAM’s insurance with innovative financing structures gives issuers more options to balance cost savings and risk management,” said Mr. Phillips. “BAM has a well-earned reputation for world-class risk management and innovation in municipal finance, and I look forward to applying that experience to the growing roster of P3s and project finance transactions in the sector.”
